Disneyland Opening Day Press Preview Ticket
(Disneyland, 1955) A very rare white opening day press preview ticket. Because Disneyland's opening day events were broadcast on live TV, guests and VIPs were requested to arrive at different times to accommodate the televised ceremonies. This particular pass features a seldom seen entrance time of 6:00pm, which would be after the broadcast had concluded, and includes information on the reverse about ABC's broadcast of the events. There is a line on the reverse for the original user to sign, but this pass has not been filled in. The ticket measures 3.5"x6.5" and is in good condition.
Disneyland was opened only 1 year and 1 day after construction began, pushed by Walt Disney against all the negative thoughts his colleagues were giving him about its "imminent failure." Clearly, over 65 years later, this was not true and Walt Disney succeeded in his endeavor, building an empire in the process.
Counterfeit tickets led to the expected 15,000 person attendance to actually extend over 28,000 entrants to the park.
Size: 21 x 13
